About Me
Hello, my name is Shannyn Stokes, and I am a down-to-earth individual with a deep love for nature, art, family, and humanity. My passion lies in partnering with individuals struggling with addiction, which led me to complete my degree at Indiana Wesleyan University to become an addiction counselor. I have also obtained the Certified Alcohol and Drug Consultant credentials (CADAAC II).
In my counseling work, I approach each person with empathy and understanding, utilizing evidence-based techniques to help them overcome their addiction. My goal is to help my clients achieve personal growth and self-actualization. I focus on helping clients develop emotional intelligence and increase their self-awareness, which allows them to better understand and manage their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
My approach to counseling is centered around empowering my clients to achieve autonomy. I work to help them make decisions for themselves and take control of their lives. This may involve identifying and overcoming obstacles that are preventing them from achieving their goals, such as negative self-talk, limiting beliefs, or self-doubt. I am dedicated to helping my clients achieve lasting change and fulfillment in their lives.
My Approach
Brainspotting is a therapeutic approach that targets the deep areas of the brain and body, going beyond the traditional talk therapy methods. This therapy approach recognizes the relationship between the body and mind, and how they are interconnected. Brainspotting works through dual attunement, in which the therapist guides the client in processing any emotions, sensations, or memories that come up.
